Performing a variety of
accounting clerical functions. Maintains complex general accounting
books requiring segregation of monies and expenditures into a number of
accounts.
Requirements include: Graduation from high school including or
supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting and four
years experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work in an
accounting office; or an equivalent combination of education and
experience. (Graduation from a four year college or university with a
major in business administration may be substituted for the required
experience; or a two year degree in business administration or
accounting from a community college or business college may be
substituted for three of the four years experience; or completion of a

COMPUTING SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

Under
general supervision, employee performs tasks to aid in the on-going
support of computer users.
Requirements include:

equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be proficient
in Windows Environment, MS Office (Word, Excel and Access). Ethernet
LAN experience a plus. Knowledge of AS/400 operation, Microsoft Server,

COMPUTING SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
II

COMPUTER SYSTEMS
ADMINISTRATOR I – Grade 74 - $ 18.50
Coordinates and manages the computer system for the Henderson County
Department of Social Services. This involves hardware management,
coordination of software needs for the system users, resolving
equipment/communications problems. Provides recommendations and guidance
for design, development, acquisition and implementation of information
resource management tools.
Requirements include: Graduation from high school and two years
of experience in the administration of a computer system using Novell
Netware. Must be proficient in Windows Environment, MS Office (Word,
Excel and Access). Ethernet LAN experience a plus. Knowledge of AS/400
operation, Microsoft Server, and HTML preferred.

INCOME MAINTENANCE

This is
usually a
Lead position. In addition to being responsible for determining and/or
re-determining applicants’/clients’ eligibility for one or more of the
income maintenance programs, also resolves client appeals of actions,
performs analysis of data and trains new caseworkers.
Requirements Include: Two years of experience
as an Income Maintenance Caseworker.
INCOME MAINTENANCE
SUPERVISOR II – Grade 72 - $33,345.00
Responsible for the administrative and technical supervision of a small
staff of Income Maintenance Caseworkers.
Requirements include: Three years of experience as a caseworker or
investigator in an Income Maintenance program, preferably with one year
of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and
experience. This position supervises the following program areas:
WorkFirst Assistance, Food Stamps, Family and Children's Medicaid, Low
Income Energy Assistance and the Crisis Intervention Program.
SOCIAL WORKER I – Grade 68 -

Entry level Social Worker providing conventional services to clients who
have obvious problems requiring well-established patterns of service.
Services are provided through a variety of programs in human service
agencies.

Responsible for the 24 hour management of the county Youth Home, such as
staffing, scheduling, training, etc...
Requirements include: A four year degree, preferably in a human
services field and two years of experience with emotionally or mentally
disturbed clients; or an associate degree in a human services field and
four years of experience working with emotionally or mentally
handicapped clients, one year of which must have been in a group home
for emotionally or mentally disturbed clients; or high school graduation
and five years of experience working with emotionally or mentally
handicapped clients, at least two years of such experience must have
been working in a group home for emotionally or mentally disturbed
clients. Must pass physical examination, background investigation and
pre-employment drug-screening. Must possess valid North Carolina
driver's license.
PROCESSING ASSISTANT

COMMUNITY SOCIAL SERVICES
ASSISTANT – Grade 60 - $10.68
Works with the elderly, disabled and/or families with dependent children
to provide training with the household management, personal care, and
community living skills – or to assist the client to remain in their own
home. Duties include basic household tasks, ability to work with
available community resources, assist in basic reading, writing and
math, work with social workers, doctors, teachers and local businesses,
and ability to report observations to supervisor.
Requirements include: Must have a valid driver's license. Must
demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least one
year of experience performing tasks in the areas of home management,
community services liaison and transportation.
CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT
AGENT II – Grade 70 - $15.80
Involves the initiation and organization of Child Support Enforcement to
include interviewing new Aid for Families with Dependent Children
clients and some non-public clients to explain the program and obtain
data. Could also be involved in locating absent parents or establishing
voluntary paternity or support through the court system.
Requirements include: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited
college or university and six months of experience in eligibility,
investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides the knowledge,
skills and abilities needed to perform the work; or an Associate's
degree from an accredited college or university in business
administration, human resources, law enforcement or closely related
degree and two years experience in eligibility, investigative,
judiciary, or legal work; or graduation from high school and three years
experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that
provides knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work.

clerical/administrative/office management experience; or completion of a
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferably
with major emphasis on coursework in business administration, public
administration, or other related field; or an equivalent combination of
education and experience. Proficiency in Windows Environment and
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access).
ADMINISTRATIVE/BUDGET
OFFICER II – Grade 74 - $ 18.50
Position is responsible for
preparation and maintenance of annual budget and supervision of fiscal
administrative unit for the agency which includes accounts payable,
accounts receivable, human resources, and purchasing.
Requirements include:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three
years of experience in personnel, budgeting, research, or administrative
management, preferably involving participating in the planning and
management of a business or governmental program; or an equivalent
combination of education and experience. Computer literacy skills in
Microsoft Windows environment are required, including Microsoft Word and
Excel.
